Orion- the college tech festival will be held on 8, 9 and 10th of October. Here are the events being planned for it.
ONLINE TREASURE HUNT
Date: 3rd and 4th October, 2009
Time: 2-day event
Description: Participants will solve set of questions provided online.
Participation: Single Person Event
Registration Fees: to be decided later.
Rules & Regulations:
This event will be conducted on http://oth2009.bounceme.net and participants will have to register themselves on same site after the 2nd of October.
A page consisting of question along with its clue will be displayed to the participant. Correct answer of that question will open up the next page consisting of next question.
Total 30 questions are to be solved in same manner.
An answer will be a single word without any numeric character in it.
The participant that completes the event first, will be declared the winner.
In case nobody is able to complete the Treasure Hunt, the participant solving highest number of questions will be the winner.
In case of tie, time required will be considered.
No participation certificates for this event.

Codexterity
Date: 9th October, 2009
Time: 2.30-4.30 p.m.
Description: Participants will be tested on their programming & debugging skills.
Participation: Team of maximum two members.
Registration Fees: 20/-
Rules & Regulations:
It will consist of 2 elimination rounds and a final round
Top 10 groups will be selected for 2nd round and top 5 groups will be selected for final round.
If tie occurs, then time taken to complete will be considered.
Any participant/team found doing any type of cheating or using any illegal means will be disqualified subject to the discretion of the Event Head.
Certificate for participation would be provided.

Learning a Software on the spot

Description: Participants are required to learn software on the spot.

The software will be given on the spot.
Participants are required to understand that software on the spot.
Participants are required to perform a task or a set of tasks in the given software on the spot.
All the materials and software will be provided.
Evaluation would be done on the basis of number of questions solved and the time involved in solving the questions.
The decision of the Judges and the Event Head will be final.
Certificate for participation would be provided.

Description: Come up with the most innovative idea for a new technology! The idea can be as creative as possible. Your imagination is the limit!

PC ASSEMBLING
Date: 9th October, 2009
Time: 10:00AM-12:00PM.
Description: Participants have to clear a written round to test their PC Hardware skills, and the final round is a timed PC Assembly round.
Participation: Single Person Event

Elims:
Elimination round will be conducted on paper.
Participant will be given an objective type question set containing basic hardware related queries.
Finals:
Separated computer hardware components will be given to the finalists.
The one who assembles the machine (in the specified configuration) in the shortest possible time wins.
The decision of the Judges & Event Head will be final.
Certificate for participation would be provided.

Tech-Debate
Date: 9th & 10th October, 2009
Time: 10:00AM Onwards (Full Day)
Description: Participants have to argue out their side of a debate on a topic disclosed before-hand. The Finals of the Debate will be conducted on an undisclosed topic.
Participation: Team of maximum 3 members.
Registration Fees:
Rules & Regulations:
Team will consist of 2 members.
Maximum of 4 teams per college
The proposition starts the debate while the opposition raises the first point in the refutation round. One Speaker of a team makes the opening speech while the other one makes the closing speech.
Personal comments of any kind directed against the opposite team are strictly prohibited.
Participants cannot comment on their opposite team's stance or statements made in previous debates of the competition.
Negative marking for exceeding time limit.
Participants will be judged on the following criteria:
--> Contents and Presentation
--> Use of Quotations
--> Body language, diction and vocal delivery
--> Logical illustration and analysis
--> Discipline maintained during the refutation round.
Discrepancies of any sort during the debate will be resolved at the moderator's discretion. The decision will be final and binding.

Description: Participants will be given a fixed number of keywords to search on the given search engine.
Participation: Team of Maximum 2 members.
Registration Fees: to be decided later
Rules & Regulations:
Participants will have to perform a Google Search based query.
The word will be given to them on the spot. They have to add a word before and after the given word and find the minimum number of results possible.
The participants are allowed to use any Dictionary except an online dictionary.
Using search engines other than Google is not allowed.
The required result is the search with minimum number of results.
The participant who has shown the required minimum result wins.
